Care, checked.

A workbook for your care search

The review check

# Read a review, then check its claim

Keep the praise beside the questions

As you read, note what the reviewer describes. Beside it, write what you still need to ask about your own care.

The visit How can I ask questions?

The treatment What evidence can I read?

The bill What is included?

Move from a review topic to a question.

## Use the topic to choose a question

Use the topic of a review to choose a question.

If it talks about…

Ask next…

The visit

How can I ask the doctor my own questions?

A change after treatment

What published evidence supports that change?

The charges

Which charges are covered, and which would be added?

Follow-up

Who answers if I have a question later?

When a review names a treatment, copy its exact name into your notes. Ask whether that is the same product or procedure being offered to you.

## Check praise against a source

Health adverts may contain made-up praise from patients or doctors, warns the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the US agency for consumer protection.

No government agency clears an advert before it appears, according to FTC guidance checked on September 17, 2026.

Read the FTC note on health claims

Ask for the research behind the treatment claim. Keep that request separate from questions about how the visit felt.

FTC: health claims and scams

## Leave a gap for what is missing

The claim that caught my attention

The treatment named in the review

The source I want to see

My follow-up question

## Carry this forward

Let the review give you questions to ask.

Seek a source for the treatment answer.

Ask what backs the treatment →
